Been more than a year since my last post on my very own blog; and a lot has happened in the past year and I wont go in a chronological order - just because the things that have happened more recently are the most fresh ones in my mind.
Here's the trip I had with shootbob (www.shootbob.com) to see the art and meet the artists of Shivarapatna village (Coordinates: 13°3'46"N 77°59'31"E). Call this place "god's own village" (not country mind it!). Want to thank you bob for this wonderful insightful trip ;)
The villagers here are artists - sculptors to be technically precise. Every house in this village is into "the craft of stone carved sculptures and idols". These artists put in months of hard work to create or rather re-create a sculpture/idol of god which eventually makes it to one of the temples of namma Bengaluru.
Some lines as a sweet remembrance of this place -
The artist puts in
months of hard work and perseverance
along with knowledge and tools
using skills learnt from ancestors passed over multiple generations
to re-create "the creator", the almighty!
Some pictures in monochrome to bring the memories back to life!
Using power tools to re-create the creator - the most powerful of all
A celebration called life!
Starting at a tender age, working through years to become the master of the craft!
Hard work and dedication!
Abstract is the only word to describe this ..
Playing hide and seek!
Signing off!
